Long Term Parking - ABC raised?

Hi Everybody,

Got a 2003 SL55 lately with 27K miles, but I will be away from home for about 2 weeks and even though I have read a lot about ABC system, I read that people suggested that if you are going to park the car idle for more than a week, you should put the car in the highest setting with two lights on.

What do you guys think? is it totally necessary? or just snake oiling?

Thanks,

J

My SL sits up to six months while I wait for favorable driving weather to return. I have never raised the suspension, in fact it is lower than normal since I don't turn off the lowering module either. I have never had a problem. I do notice on occasion a slight drop on one of the struts after all that time.

The only thing I would recommend is make sure the wheels are straight just in case a serious drop occurs.

No. Just put the wheels straight. Suspension settling is normal and does no harm (as long as the front wheels don't hit the arches).

if you're having it set 2 weeks then I would put a battery maintainer on the battery in the trunk

I use a trickle charger on the trunk battery. Works like a charm upon my return.
