IMO when you drive an SL there is a sense of occasion, when you drive a CLK you are just driving. The only exception is if you are driving an AMG CLK.

Except for the CLK63, the AMG versions of the W209 are not that exciting. The CLK55 is less powerful than the CLK550. You do get a sportier suspension, but even then it does not come close to the ride and handling of the SL. I would not buy a CLK63 since the M156 engines throgh MY2010 (after W209 production ended) were susceptible to head bolt and lifter failure, which are very expensive repairs. There is a reason that, with the same engines, the SL is twice the price of a CLK.
