2004 SL500 - Power in glove box

Hi Folks,

I'm using an MP3 player to play music through the aux connector in the glove box of my 2004 SL500. I would like to leave the player in the glove box and have it charge when in use, but there's no power outlet in the glove box.

Has anyone added a power socket in the glove box? Any thoughts on difficulty and placement?

NO LONGER ACTIVE

One possibility is to tap into the cigarette lighter in the center console.

2003 SL500

I believe that there is a light inside the glove box. You might use power to the light for your player, but you would need to bypass the light switch.

I added a 12V power outlet to my glove box in my 2003 SL55, using the cig lighter for power.
My ash tray interior had been converted into a satellite radio, so there was no power outlet to use there, and we all need outlets for cell phones and gadgets.

Works great!
