ABC Question
Getting ready to take my car out of storage I'm going to do an ABC flush and filter I'm thinking of replacing the accumulators but I want to know if I should replace them before the flush or after the flush. The car is a 2007 SL 550 with 28,000 miles The car runs perfectly I have no ABC issues do you think I should replace the accumulators. Also need to do brakes all the way around are the calipers Pistons push in or are they the screw in style Pistons thanks for all your help I appreciate any input

1. If the ABC system is working OK, and if the pentosin is still clear green and at the proper level on the dipstick, I wouldn't replace accumulators or anything else. Just drive it and enjoy it.
2. Are you getting a brake pad warning sensor alert? If not, you might consider leaving the pads alone. But you have eyes on the scene and are a better judge of the pads' condition. The brake pistons simply push in.
Good luck, Mate.

As to the accumulators, they are definitely a maintenance item but at 28K miles it seems a bit premature to change them out. You will know when they fail because you will see a sudden drop in fluid reservoir volume and the ride will become very harsh. I changed both of mine at 107K and the rear was ruptured, front was not. They had both been changed previously as they were not MB but Corteco. Ride quality improved immensely in the rear.
All in all, you have a very low mileage example and as heatwave said, enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

I have all the Pentosin and the filters to do the ABC flush but I've been told and read that the life expectancy of the accumulators are about 10 years so I figured as long as I'm doing it maybe I should just replace them I don't want to wind up stranded on the side of the road Also I have visually check the pads and there's not much left to them that's why I just want to do the brakes and be done with it. Thanks again guys for all your input and support this website is very informative and very helpful

If all of your accumulators were to fail it is very unlikely that you would end up stranded, Dave.
