Loose Mirrors
I was detailing the car last week and noticed the passenger side mirror housing was a bit loose feeling. Then, driving down the highway yesterday, the driver side mirror was vibrating to the point hat it was unusable. I decided to check the bolts holding the housing to the door and found all the bolts on both sides were loose.
I was able the tighten them without removing the door panels. All I had to remove was the triangular sail panel and the cover over the door controller. The top bolt was easy to access but I had to use a low-profile Torx socket wrench to get to the lower two. Of course removing the door panel would have put them right at hand, but I was lazy.
Anyhow, they are now all tight and no vibrations. It's just odd that these loosened up over time. I wonder if it's a design flaw in the larger mirrors for the MY2009+ facelift.
