When did the sl get 7g?
When did the sl500 get the 7g tronic? I can only find info that the facelift from 07 had 7g tronic but on the internet i found several 2005 with 7g. Which year did the sl500 get 7g? What other major diffrences is there between 2002 - 2005?

First year for US R230 release was '03 model year. Europe got release in '02.
First year US 7 speed ie 722.9 was 2004.
Worth noting, the 5 speed 722.6 was still used on the more powerful supercharged and turbocharged versions due to superior strength vs 722.9.
Other changes, 2005 fiber optic changed from D2B to MOST and comand changed as well otherwise, the same.

Carguyshu, are you refering to the 2007 facelift or between 2002 - 05? I been looking for both r129 and r230 sl for some time now and decided to import one from germany. A low mile 2005 seems like most bang for the buck.

Another question. In 2005, did MB offer amg package as an option with bodykit, wheels and quad exhaust or is that allways aftermarket parts?
such as this one:

In the USA, there was an AMG sport appearance package offered. It included:
"AMG-design front air dam, side skirts and rear apron (standard on SL55 AMG). Four staggered-width 18" AMG turbine-style 5-hole wheels with high-performance tires. Fingertip shift control (buttons on steering wheel that operate Touch Shift feature)"
Quad exhaust tips was not an option, and only available as standard equipment on the AMG models (SL55, SL65). Again, that's for USA models. I don't know what might have been available in other markets.
