Hood vent grille compatibility
Friend of mine has a 2009 SL550. He is looking for a vent grille because someone broke a piece off of horizontal fin.
Are these grilles identical from 2003 to at least 2009?

Good question, here's what I ascertained while locating a driver's side vent fin assembly for my 2008 SL550:
The 2003 - ? part number = 230-830-01-18. Sometime between 2005 - 2008, the part number was replaced with 230-830-11-18 but the assembly remained the same. All three fins were damaged upon purchase so I took a chance on Ebay as the dealer quoted me $282.00. The assembly was identical, including nozzle unit, sensor, etc. I bought the used piece for $60.00 shipped and lucked out. I don't know if the 2008 part carried over but your friend could reference the above number when speaking with the dealership parts guy.
BTW: The passenger side vent assembly part number =
230-830-02-18 (old)
230-830-12-18 (replacement)
