Working on a 2004 sl500. I am troubleshooting a non-working lumbar seat adjuster. Neither seat is working (no movement or indication of power). So Shadetree mechanic 101 states check the fuse. Fuse chart does not refer to any fuses for "Lumbar seat control". so I am assuming it is piggy backed on something else except everything else is working. I have a electronic shop manual that is very comprehensive. And I have not found any information on the Lumbar controls.
So questions are:
1.) What number is the fuse for the lumber control.
2.) The diagrams shows there is a fuse box located in the back seat area under something(sorry don't have diagram with me so I don't know the correct name).
3.)What would be a good search term for the shop manual.
4.) Any guidance or suggestion would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Dub
The lumbar support is pneumatic. There is a pump in the trunk that supplies air pressure to all the car's pneumatic accessories (door locks, stowage compartment locks, trunk latch, lumbar, etc.) If those other devices are working, then it's not the pump. It could be a leak in the hoses leading to the seats, but it would be an odd coincidence that both are leaking (but still possible). The switches that operate the lumbar support are attached to the seat controller, so if the other seat functions work then it's not a fuse or electrical problem. I would check under the seat to make sure the switches are plugged into the controller.
Rudeney suggested checking connections under the seat. Does that mean the seat has to be removed?
If so can this be done without help?
I am trying to repair broken side covers with JB Weld Plastic mender. Impossible to find the red covers used on 03 SL 500.
