when I first start my car the right multifunction display reads "temporarily unavailable" and I cant lower the top. after running several minutes the display returns to display outside temp and top can be lowered. this is aggravating, any suggestions???

Probably need to replace the rear battery. Or place a trickle charger on the rear battery when parked more than 3 days.
These cars have a constant drain from the rear battery, so you need to trickle charge them, or drive them more often. Very typical of the R230.

Just saw this same issue on my newly acquired 07 SL550. It has been driven very little in the past 1.5 years. I picked it up this past weekend and just last night and again this morning saw the same message. I am suspecting the aux battery after doing a little research.
