Dyno'ing the SL600
Hello, everyone. Does anyone know the proper process / caveats, fuse disabling, etc. for an '04 SL600 dyno test? Or is it as simple as drive the car in straight from the street and just hook her up to the dyno? The car is bone stock and would be on a Dynojet brand dynamometer.
Thank you,
A-Train

I had a dyno test done on a dynojet a couple of weeks ago. It is very straight forward. I drove the car in they hooked up the chasis and clipped the computer into the engine [a couple of clips to ground and pick up the rpms]. they did two runs in 3rd gear and one in 4th gear.
It went smooth and the longest part was bracing the car to the chasis and finding the right spot on the engine to pick up the rpms. I was done in 1.5 hours the charge was $100.
The result are kinda wierd because it gives you the hp and torque at the wheels [where it matters]. My car rated at about 254hp with a 3rd gear limit of 112mph.
I was told that most automatic cars have a 20% loss from the fly wheel hp that the manuf. uses compared to at the wheel. So adding 20% is about 305hp [close to the manufac. 302hp].
The computer esp needs to be turned off and the "abs" light will come on for a little while afterwards and will automatically reset.
This was my baseline run. I have put in a Gold 93 chip from Powerchip Group and will run another test and then will do one more after installing a new brabus exhaut and BMC airfilters. Just to see if there is a difference. {I will tell you I sure can feel it}
NO Worries, enjoy the test, and please report your readings.
