SL/R230: Mercedes SL55 Starts Up & Cuts off

Mercedes SL55 Starts Up & Cuts off
Hi guys,
So ive had my SL55 off the road for a few months as ive had split charger unit issue causing fire in the back boot. Went through all the stages of hard times struggling to find parts and finally had her ready.
So a few days later gave it into my bodyshop to have a bit of touch ups done and funnily enough engine starting acting up as it was like its running out of fuel and cut off whilst infront of us.
She managed to fire up so thought it just may have been the way I parked was facing downhill on a slight slope.
Few days later I was driving it probably done what around 5 miles stop start throughout the day and just fired her up and got down the road when the throttle started losing power and all of a sudden she cut out. Fired her up and managed to park her on the side of the road. After tried firing her and she wouldn't fire.
I managed to get my pal to plug in his diagnostics and he said about purge control valve so I just had the vehicle recovered and ordered a new unit. Funnily enough when I went to install the new valve realised it come up with the code as it wasn't plugged in properly so it may not have even been that fault as now it shows no codes.
However vehicle was still doing the same trying to fire but not firing up. Connected it up to a computer and no fault codes are shown. A local Mercedes specialist garage recommended changing the fuel filter, since then vehicle fires up but cuts out after 2 secs of starting so would appreciate if any of you guys are able to help.
