Where is this part/insulation supposed to be placed in the luggage compartment/trunk?

Any of my fellow member here that knows where this part/insulation board is supposed to be placed in the trunk of the car?

I have taken out some of the carpet but i can not tell where it is supposed to be placed

On top of the battery. The indent goes above the positive terminal as it has a red cover on it that sits proud of the battery.

Really? Mine doesn't have that on the battery, and there'd be no room for it anyhow.

Yup, its used on 209 (CLK), 211 (E) and 230 (SL)

My SL doesn't have it, but has the thick grey carpeted removable tray/section below the boot floor cover as I don't have a spare wheel.

If you have a spare wheel then you don't get the thick carpet tray, and I think you then need that above the battery to support the boot floor carpet (so its not sitting directly on the battery)

Richard you are absolute correct

I reallt did not think of that since the battery in my car have a length that is way to long

I am waiting for a new battery under warranty and then the top tray will fit

There are 2 holes in the top of this tray/insulation and i can not see anything that will hold the tray/insulation down on the battery or is it just supposed to be put on top of the batter and when you put in the rest of the carpet the carpet will hold it in place?

I believe it just sits on top and supports the boot floor. On other models it clips to the boot carpet using those holes.

I wouldn't be on a W209 as it only has a single battery under the hood. Maybe there was a change to the trunk for the MY2009 facelift because there is definitley no room in mine for this - there is zero clearance between the red positive lead cover the the spare tire compartment cover. It sits on that red cover.

You are correct again It is just supposed to lay on top of the battery because there is nothing that holds it on the carpet in the trunk/boot
