convertible top fluid

Mine could take a small amount of fluid. Any way to bypass the special mercedes syringe? Does the mercedes syringe insertion open a valve internal to the fluid reservoir or could I use a real medical syringe/needle?

I bought a syringe from dollar store in the kitchen area. put a vacuum line on the end and push the fluid in slow or it will make a mess

Remove both screws on the top and use any syringe that fits the holes. I did not use a hose when i did mine.

I got fluid in. Top very sluggish in operation 1st few times. Much better now. Never like that before, no leaks that I cans see. What caused this? Air in lines?

a leak is the only reason the fluid will be low. you need to find it. it could be leaking above the headliner but not bleeding through enough yet for you to notice.

Book this brief post under Comments for the Good of the Corps: speaking of syringes and such, I've found that dental hygiene syringes are great tools for applying small amounts of liquids into tight places. Google for them. They're plastic ... disposable. You can get packs of the things for just a few bucks; I have a bag of a dozen or so in the shop. I keep a syringe partially filled with ATM fluid and use it for applying small amounts of lube onto such things as door hinges. Once you have them, you'll find a lotta uses for them.

That's it exactly, Rodney. When you need to get a small dab of lube onto a hard-to-get-to hinge ... such as the door hinges on our cars ... without making a mess, these are the ticket. Stick a small fishing cork on the end as a cap ... set it on the shelf. Also, when you're trying to get a dose of meds down the dog's mouth ... works.
