SL/R230: not able to shift out of park

Not likely, but the plastic "park shift lock" is about to fail, which is a major pain to fix with a sledge hammer! I'm not kidding.
A replacement part made of metal can be bought on eBay for $30, and can be replaced in a few hours. If it breaks, and yours will in a couple days, you have to beat the car out of gear and replace the shifter.
Search for 'Park lock repair' and see what you find. Very common issue. Fix it now, not tomorrow.
