I enjoyed my tour on this forum

After three years of enjoying the best car I've ever owned or driven, I sold my '07 R230 and bought a 2018 MB GLE350. I've always thought that I was "too good" to be an SUV driver, but my knees, hips, and back keep telling me otherwise and with increasing intensity. Father Time has spoken ... is speaking. I was embarrassing myself getting in and out of my car, but once in I was good to go.I will greatly greatly miss sports cars and top-down driving. And I will miss this forum.

To Rodney, especially, I tip my hat.

Fair winds and following seas to all here.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Heatwave, thank you for the kinds words! I'm sort of in the same boat. I have some serious back issues and may end up with a new hip in the next year or so. I love the SL, but getting in and out is taking its toll, and worse, I may be getting to the point that I can't DIY quite as much, and there's no way I'm paying someone to do it for me. We bought a MY2010 ML350 for the kid and it's such a nice car (at an incredible price!) that I'd probably be quite happy driving one of those or a newer model Besides, I don't drive that much anymore as Ive been working from home the last year, and we usually take my wife's car (she hates getting in and out of the SL). I really have to make excuses to run errands and take the SL out of the garage. If/when it happens it will be a very tough decision. Enjoy the new ride!

All the best Heatwave. Life is about making the best of what you’re dealt with in all phases of age and health.

You will be missed here - any way around you were an active member of the forum and had your share of information passed to others. I'm with you on the low cars - i'm still in my 20's and already bought an SUV for same reasons - low car for a daily driver has it's own down sides.
Same time i appreciated the most the depreciation in price of the R230 - i can enjoy driving this car while i'm still young and i don't have to wait to get close to retirement to be able to afford one. Kudos to MB for that

Did you sell it to one of the forum members? That would be really nice At least there would be someone here interested in that car for sure, considering how we all love to take care of them.
Hope you will enjoy the new car and miss the old one Can't imagine myself selling the SL....

Best wishes

You can still contribute, you need to know the R230, not necessarily own one still
