Lower control arm bushings

Hi just getting ready to install new lower control arm bushings and torque strut bushings. Just got all the bushings and the new control arm bushings have 2 steel washers I don’t have those on my car 07sl550 was wondering if this is an updated part? Or do I use them. Same on the torque strut bushings they sent 4 rubber dust covers for those bushings which I also don’t have on my car. Any hel will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Dave

I believe those large washers were added to keep the control arm better positioned when the the bushings wear out, and prevent damage to the subframe.
Probably after customers had a fit when they needed control arms, bushings and a subframe after their bushings failed.
They are hard to remove and replace. Use an air chisel to remove. Press to install.

Bushing will have an oval slot allowing a degree of camber/caster alignment.
If you have the alignment bolts with a slot in them, make sure they are installed the same as they came out.

Not sure about the dust covers, but they can’t do any harm.

Thanks for the feed back kbob that’s what I thought it was. Do you know by looking at the large washers which way would face the bushing I was thinking the cone shaped side is frame side. Also I purchased the Baum front end bushing removal and install tool should make it pretty easy. Thanks again Dave

Hi another quick question on the alignment bolt with the slots and eccentric washers ( I bought all new ones) does it matter which way they go in. I know the the bushings and the arms have alignment mark which I’ll make sure I line up. Thanks

If I understand your question, yes it matters which way the bolt SLOTS go into the bushings. The slots are slightly offset on the bolt, so you need to get it back in the same way it came out. Play around on the workbench to see what I mean.

If you are asking does it matter which end the nut is on...no it does not. Whatever fits.
