SL/R230: Coil pack problem after front end collision!
I pulled over and waited for the police for about one hour with the car running and A/C on.
After the police report I drove the car to a better place for the flatbed to pick it up.
The car was running fine! Damage was to the front clip.
After waiting for a month for MB to repair the front clip I went to pick it up yesterday and it had a check engine light on.
I told the Service manager it didn’t have a check engine light on when it went on the flat bed.
My question is is it possible for a violent shock to the car that a coil pack would go bad?
That is what MB just told me on the phone.
The light shows a coil pack problem.
It is a 2005 SL600 with 27,383 mi

I don't see how a front end collision would affect the coilpacks, unless something got pushed back far enough to tear some wires/connectors. Or it could just be the luck of the draw that the coil went bad at the time it was with MB.
