I know that I am a newbie here but can you not use the key and manually open it like you would do for maintenance?

After the car has set for awhile, the pressure in the system should have bled off an you should be able to push down on the trunk to close it. At that point you can open the trunk normally. Fill the pump and then return the roof to the up position. Lastly find and repair the leak in the system.

Not true, use the key blade in the trunk latch and it will open anyway. There's a service position where the frame is fully open and the lid is open, you first tilt the trunk up then unlock the lid, or you can do it the other way. Both are mechanically unlockable.

If you can get the trunk to open up, you can use the allen to lock the latches down fully and then close the trunk, until you repair the system it will seal fine like that.

Just pushing down isn't enough to engage those locks, they move through almost 90 degrees and have a lot of leverage, the force you would have to apply just pushing down on the trunk would likely damage the trunk before it latched down. With the trunk open you can get to them though.

Based on what I read, I used the same Pentosin CHF11S that is for the ABC system, so far no issues. RockAuto has the best price @ $12.59/QT that I have been able to find. That is about half of what my local autoparts place wants. I purchased 12, it is was $11.99 for ground shipping, since I was not in a hurry I went that route.

You can use pentosin for the fluid, however it smells really bad and will mess up your headliner when it leaks onto it, ask me how i know . I tried for weeks to get the smell out but the oil had seeped deep into my alcantara fabric.

When you consumer battery runs low one day, you'll quickly realize how valuable this "worthless" key is. Ask me how I know.

What did you use as an alternative?
