Need to identify a reservoir

There is a small reservoir behind the ABC filter/reservoir in my 2005 500SL that is not identified and I'm not sure what kind of fluid it takes.

The cap is black, flat, bumpy edges - no writing - has a short dipstick attached to the cap. Fluid appears light yellowish brown on a paper towel.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
If it wasn't green before you changed it, it's because it was dirty. If it;s not green now, then you used the wrong fluid - Pentosin CHF 11s is definitely green.

Thanks
the front ABC system has been activating on its own. Most often when I slow down or come to a stop. I flushed it and changed the filter, but it still happens. Do you have any thoughts on what else could be causing it?

Could it have anything to do with low levels in the power steering fluid?

front end movement

I doubt power steering has anything to do with it. Much more likely is the control valve assembly O rings need replacing. For my '03 model the assembly is on the drivers side just behind the front bumper and not too hard to remove. Many hose connections are involved that need to go back in the holes they started in, need to mark them carefully. I am not sure for an '05 if there are model year variances that come up to cause a problem in removing the assembly. Many threads are in the forum on this topic of O ring replacement. Other members may chime in here using diagnostic codes from a STAR scan tool that may aid in determining the exact cause of your problem.
