Bluetooth Puck

I'm trying to sync my I phone to a 2005 Mercedes SL500. I'm told I need a "puck"
Can you give me a part number or manufacturer

Thank you

Welcome to the forum! Please complete your profile on the User Control Panel to add the model year of your car and your location (at least country). This will appear on the left side panel next to each post you make and will help others to give you better information.

First of all, do you know if your car has the cell pone interface installed? Note that all R230's will have the buttons on the COMAND head unit and steering wheel, but there are additional components required. Look in the center console to see if you have an MHI connector, something like the photo below. If so , you just need a Bluetooth puck - they are all over ebay. If you don't have the MHI connector, then forget about it because you are short over $1,000 in parts plus the labor to install them.

I don't know what I am looking at in your photo. Is that the underside of the center conole lid? Something else?

Thanks, Mike.

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently

In upper central armrest. With cover.

Cover gone.

Nokia cradle clicks on (got it for next to nothing on eBay).

Had this Stone Age phone laying around. The battery incredibly still lasts forever with the car switched off. iPhone switches through to Nokia number while I’m driving. Pairing IPhones with Bluetooth pucks can be a hassle.

Thanks I see now.

I have nothing like that in my car so I'm out of luck. I don't feel a need to link my phone to the car. I think that it was a more important option before we all had Iphones. Hands free is nice but for me it's not worth taking the console apart and spending a lot of money, If I feel that I need hands free phone in the future I'll just have to trade up to a newer AMG model. I'll get bluetooth and a couple of hundred horses to go with it.

Mike.

If you don't have the MHI connector, I believe another option might be the "La Power" Bluetooth adapter (sometimes also referred to as Mr 12 Volt)... See info here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...b-adapter.html currently it is about $150 plus some installation.

Basically, this plugs in place of your CD changer (you lose CD changer), and it will handle phone calls, and you can stream music to it... There are some videos in the link above showing installation in an W211 (E class). I have no experience with this in an R230 (I have the MHI connector and MB puck), but I have ordered one of these La Power units from ebay to go into a 2004 W211.

Some have said it is similar to the Dension products seen here: http://shop.dension.com/handsfree-car-kits

I think @850csi was looking at one of these, he has an SL55. Maybe 850csi has some info or thoughts?

Hope this helps.

Lee
