Adding Bluetooth puck cradle

Hello,
I understand that adding the phone may be somewhat expensive however I remember seeing a few years ago a detailed DIY with pictures and part numbers. Anybody knows what would be the required part numbers? I know that the car may have the PSE unit already, it is a '06 model. Is it just a harness and a cradle? Maybe there is a technical bulletin with the upgrade.

Thank you,
Radu

PSE = Pneumatic System Equipment, so not related to the phone.

If you don;t have the MHI doc connector int he center console, then it;s a very expensive (well over $1000 in parts) and complex job. Even more problematic is that MBZ no longer makes the parts, so you'd have to buy new "old stock" or used parts. My advice: install a new aftermarket head unit with all the modern amenities you want.

Hello Rodney, I am talking about Portable Small Equipment (PSE) which is the designation for the MHI adapter in many threads. I know that I may find parts only used and I am counting on this. I really do not want an aftermarket head unit. I analyzed the EPC a lot and it appears that aside from the MHI adapter (if not already present) I may need a cradle bracket and a harness but I am not sure.

Oh, too many acronyms!

OK, here's the WIS doc for the retrofit:

http://benzbits.com/r230/RetrofitCTEL.pdf

This is just the "top level" document - i didn't dig into all the sub-documents. My main thing is to show you the parts you need. Since you have a USA model, I am sure you have TeleAid (mBrace) so some of the wiring is already there, and you should have the mic. That means you need the three modules - E-net compensator (A28/3), the telephone interface (A34/4) and the handy connector (X39/9). I a not certain, but I think the wire that might be there as part of the "pre-wiring" that is included with TeleAid is the "1" in the diagram. The fiber "2" might also be there.

Besides the cost of these parts and the labor (free if you DIY, of course), is the challenge in finding the parts as I believe MBZ quit making them.

Thank you Rodney. That's what I was looking for. I can dig up the WIS documents myself now. This is for models up to '04 but I will do a search using AN82.70 to find if there is a document for '06. In any case I can figure it out from here. I have been very successful in finding low cost components from eBay vendors that, for example, didn't know that the dome light is a control module and not just a light fixture.

Thank you,
Radu
