Starter Battery issue
How many members put battery maintainers on the R230 starter /consumer batteries when the car is not going to be used for a week or longer?

Everyone uses trickle charger on the rear battery, as it does fast, 2-3 weeks tops.
Never heard of anyone charging the starter battery. I mean I had my car for over 3 years now and never ever the starter battery went dead on me. Obviously because is used for that sole purpose it means it can hold charge longer. I don't drive it that often - maybe 1-2 times a week in winter time, but still never had issues.
1 week is not that much of a deal for any of the 2 batteries, as long as you'll drive it for a while after that - more than 30 mins or so

I maintain a trickle charger on my consumer battery - never on the starter battery. I drive my SL once a week, then sometimes go up to three wks without driving. AND, i recently installed a new AGM battery. I've heard
trickle chargers help batteries to last longer because they are constantly at full charge capacity...

I store my SL550 in a remote, unheated, New England garage for up to 5 months every winter season. I use Flatstoppers for the tires and a CTEK smart charger for the convenience AGM battery. I have never trickle-charged or otherwise maintained the starter battery. Each Spring, I remove the car cover, disconnect the CTEK and start the car. The M-B starter battery (which is also an AGM) can hold it’s charge with no problem.
