SL/R230: Horrific pothole damage

We had a chance here to repeal the recent gas tax increase in California (which was passed by the state in 2017 and went into effect last year) last November, but the majority of voters rejected it so the new tax is here to stay. The real issue is that they, the state legislator, can increase the taxes with no prior voter approval as much as they like. They also added new fees on top of the current vehicle registration fees. The problem here in LA, and other urban areas around the state, is just the number of cars on the road has grown really significantly in the last 10 years. And the quality of the road repairs and maintenance seems subpar compared to before (they fix potholes here and many of the repairs end up breaking or sinking again or the paving is not done properly in some areas leaving uneven and/or rough roads). All the Uber and Lyft drivers don't make things better for the roads.
