Does anyone know if there is an after market 722.9 transmission dip stick that would work for my 2007 R230? I have read the DIY transmission fluid changes, but see nothing about measuring the amount of fluid except for the overflow through the drain plug. I do see dip sticks offered for other Mercedes, but not the SL550.

On your 7 speed there is no dipstick.
Overflow is your indicator.

Yes, I know that, however, there seems to be a number of aftermarket dip sticks for other Mercedes models. I was hoping that there would be a dip stick that would fit through the transmission vent pipe that has the locked cover.

The covered vent pipe that you see is the engine oil pan vent pipe I think.
