Command System Replacement 2005 R230
I have a 2005 SL500 . The car is virtually perfect and has only 25K miles.
Unfortunately, the command unit screen is experiencing intermittent failures and I fear that I will need to replace my command system.
I am not interested in upgrading or any aftermarket options. I have researched several past posts and cannot find a clear answer as to how to acquire a new command unit. If that is possible, where would I get one and how much would it cost

fwiw: in case you start looking for a unit on the internet: search for Comand, with a single m. (The somewhat clumsy acronym stands for cockpit management and navigation device). Be very aware of typology (versions); leave it to the Benz Boys to conjure up a confusing numerical sequence of distinctly different Comand versions.

Intermittent screen freezing (stuck on MB logo). After a few minutes, it sometimes resets and things are ok for a few days. Lately, I also experienced some screen flickering.

the fault does not seem to be the screen, I would say it is something more serious. My problem was that my screen lost color and there were spots of dead pixels, a computer workshop here in Spain changed the screen for another and everything was solved. Sorry I can not help but the symptoms suggest that it is something more complex. I hope you are lucky and you can repair it

Update. Took the car to our local MB Independent Shop. They re-booted the system, and at least for now, all is fine
