SL 600 oil change

Hello everyone lucked up on a mint 2004 SL600 with 25,000 miles on it. It is perfect. If I had known cars were this fun I would have given up motorcycles a long time ago.

I like to wrench on my own toys. Is there a way I can suck the oil out of the top of the engine (through a dipstick tube)? I know there is not a leave in dipstick for these cars, but is there a place I can use a dipstick to check oil level?

i am not 100% sure about your model and year but i have a 2007 SL550 and that is exactly what i do when changing oil. i use a EWK 15L vacuum fluid extractor to suck out the oil.
easy and takes about 20 minutes for the whole job from start to oil filter and oil being replaced.

this is what i use, got it from amazon:

on my SL500 I use a Mighty vac. pump up vac. down the dip stick hole
I first empty the vac so I know the exact amount sucked out......
( I verify this but emptying the vac into a graduated pitcher)
I also have a third party dipstick and have noted the existing oil level on the dip stick (120mm in my case)
the oil is put in in the exact amount taken out and double checked with the oil level display on dash.
When adding oil I find pouring it into the oil filter housing before installing the new filter fastest.

Just jack the car up and remove the drain plug like traditional cars, replace filter with a mann filter, and pour in 9qts of 0w40. Save yourself $500 that's what the dealer quoted me to do an oil change.
