2003 SL55 ECU

I recently bought a non running 2003 sl55. The box at driver side engine compartment with the ECU and SAM was full of water so the ECU has been sitting in 3-4" of water for months!
I looked up the part number for the ECU currently in the car and it seemed to point to an E55 amg rather than a SL55. I dont know much of the history of the vehicle but it looks as if they were chasing electrical demons in the center console.
I have a local shop that can virginize and reprogram but I don't want to buy the wrong used computer.
Is there a resources to lookup original ECU part numbers?
Is there a good resource to buy an ECU programed for plug and play for this vehicle?
Thanks

Dozens of us have a Chinese-cloned Star Diagnosis System (SDS) which includes the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC). If you post the VIN someone will reply with the part number for your engine ECU.

Bohnenblust1, expect the regular spam in this forum. Too bad, but inevitable it seems.

It's remarkable to me Frederick that at least one member of our forum is adamant that the spammer be reinstated to MBWorld.

Member Rodney ("Rudeney") used to work for an M-B dealer, and I recall him once stating that sometimes a part number could change without there being a change to the part. In my '03 SL55 I wouldn't hesitate to have a module with any of those part numbers.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
The 7th and 8th digits of MBZ part numbers indicates a few different things. Fer paired "mirror image" parts, it's different for left vs.right. For single parts, it's often a revision. Although we typically think hat the latest version is always the best, it may be changes of no significance, like a different supplier or a change from a silver housing to a black housing. Like bobterry99 said, I;d not hesitate to use any of those.
