HI I am considering doing the coilovers. I would dearly like to get the pdf that you have on the link. I will not open however. Can you please post it again.
Regards Danie
Here is an updated PDF of my coil-over conversion..................
Yes, its a Std SL350 Anti roll bar , more than up to the job on 500 or 55 . Needs a certian amount of spacers and extended drop links for the 55 tho due to the extra sump section !
What do you mean the BC kit is specifically only for the 55 out of interest ??
I ordered the BC kit last week and was told that it was specifically for the SL55 and although it would fit a 500 it had not been tested and could not be guaranteed if it proved to be unsuitable. A careful look at the advert does indeed say its for the R230 SL55 but it's badly worded and slightly confusing.
I saw that advertised at Carid too. It looks a bit too good to be true. How can they supply for $200 less than RMT themselves and ship to UK for free?
Well they say it is pre order to March 31st Carid is very reliable.. Now I wonder if you need to lift the sub frame to install it . A video suggests this and others write it is not necessary. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffnt&q=you...%3DxB4QCLj_xFI

Thanks for sharing that video, I thought I'd sen all of them.! Everything I've seen says you need to drop the frame. This video shows what's involved better than others. None of them mention where to source the joint that goes into the lower arm for the drop link to the bar.

There is just the hole where it goes into on the arm. Most videos don't show that part, one I e seen just shows it being pressed in. The pictures I've found of SL350 arms look different to what I expected.
I've just looked again at Geo3 PDF. It's listed in there. I'm felt sure it wasn't when I looked before. Anyway, problem m solved, thank you.

Great so you are on your own with the links and attachment hardware. But I have to ask is it necessary to go all the trouble to use ALL Mercedes Parts to achieve the same thing? RMT LOOKS like the solution for the enthusiast owner. Maybe not the track racer set up but I don't care about that. Do you?

No its not what I want at all. I want a comfortable ride and drive above all else. The two kits readily available in UK plus roll bars links, pump etc are half the cost of the RMT kit.
Thread revival..... My SL55 is booked in for a full BC Racing Coil-over kit to be installed early February comprising of 1 x set of BC Racing Coil-overs, 1x front (custom not 350) Anti-roll bar, 1x rear (customer not 350) Anti-roll bar, 2x front Drop Links, 2x rear Drop Links, 2 x Engine Mounts, 2 x Engine Mount spacers, 1x Power Steering Pump
The company I'm using has done a few of these conversions with positive results... I've put allot of ££ in the ABC system and quite frankly got fed up with it as it's now messing about AGAIN.
When completed I'll have For Sale....
2 genuine Mercedes Front ABC struts with about 1k miles on them
1 genuine ABC Tandem pump with 1k miles on it
2 rear ABC struts
Front Valve block
Rear Valve block with 500 miles on it
As we all know these struts are about £1300 each, but all parts will priced good to sell to who's interested
Tony, I am about to install my sway bars and looking for all the info I can.>! Your pictures are great, but if you would have taken one looking straight into the bar mount at the chassis it would have been great.! I wonder if you do not get noise from those universal joints?? I have a bar that found at my local boneyard, and trying to figure if it fits..! The eye spacing is right, but wonder if the inverted bend at the arms will be an issue!
Keith, appreciate you sharing that pic.. The issue that have me hesitant is that the bar I got has everything right, excepting the bend in the arm shown over your pic. The distance from mounting axis to eye is 6-3/8".! I wonder how much is that distance in your bar?? Everything else in this hefty bar seems to fit.

I doubt I can get to measure it. My car is covered up over winter. If its fine at the weekend I'll see what I can do.
According to my reading it's not necessary unless you are hard on the car consistentl

Try it without the anti roll bars. If you're happy then fine . If not then fit you can fit them afterwards. I used SL350 bars from the dealer with aftermarket links etc. They fitted my 500 without any spacers or modification Despite what people say they are perfectly adequate even for fast road driving. It's limits are far beyond anything I'm prepared to got to.
