Hi,I have a R230 SL500 2003 I hear a ticking noise from the right side of the engine.

It looks like it’s coming from here ( does anyone know what that connector is for ) thanks in advance!!

That's the purge valve which controls the flow of fuel vapors from the fuel tank to the engine in order to burn them.

I had a '96 SL which ticked, but no other car I have encountered ticks. I presume you have no check engine light, and this would indicate the valve is working correctly. It's my guess that yours may tick because it is worn, but I wouldn't bet on it.
