EIS problem

Hi
now i know these are a common problem but i only see that owners have is that the key when inserted will not turn hence no start,
mine is the key when inserted is making the memory steering and seat move to position ok but on turning the key to its first position no lights on the dash and the same on second position also nothing when trying to start.
i guess it still could be the eis?
the key less start system works perfectly regardless, so i thought i would see what happens when i take out the wired plugs from the eis and try keyless start to my surprise it did not, someone did say it could be the key fob but how is it making the afore mentioned move but not the starter and dash lights, anyone know something i don't?

Based on some experimenting I did two years ago, I think it is highly likely if not definitely likely an EIS problem. A Chinese-cloned Star Diagnosis System can confirm.

you might have to replace the key, or put the key in the ignition, then unplug the wires(specifically the small set) then replug them while the key in it then see what happens

A moderator followed a link to that seller's website and found a trojan virus. The seller has subsequently been banned from MBWorld.

Pmercury Guesswho offers a good Star Diagnosis (SDS) product. But relative to other options it is ridiculously expensive. There is no need to spend more than $250 - $300 to have a complete SDS which will meet all of the needs of an R230 owner.
