Seat Bottom Repair

Hi folks. The prior owner put a small cut in the lower cushion. Any suggestions for repair? I’ve been quoted $500 to recover that perforated panel, but that seems way too much. I put in a piece of vinyl backing with light adhesive, but don’t like how it turned out. Open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!
