SRS Triggers!?
While on a recent road trip, after start up, my SRS light would not go out. Lights up, goes out then lights up immediately & stays permanently on.
I have a G-Scan diagnostic, not STAR, & hooked it up & that re-set the SRS back to normal operation; for about 2 days. Then, I got the fault again!
Any suggestions?

Probably because you have a problem that G-Scan diagnostic can't see
There are only a few who do a lot Like the AUTEL 906 908
Many problems can only be solved with Xentry

The G-Scan does see the fault & does re-set though! Doesn't it mean that I have a fault in the system? Or, you mean the G-Scan is not doing a proper clearing of the fault?

OK, so went back with G-Scan & instead of just re-setting, looked up the code fault.
Got code B-1863 which reads:
The coding for ignition circuit with component R12/1(Driver ETR ignition squib) is faulty
Anyone care to translate?

You need to find someone with Xentry to lookup and change a setting
workshop or dealer. or invest a bit for the future and get one
should be a easy fix

M-B issued a service bulletin to its dealers on codes B1862 and B1863. These faults are usually a consequence of a less-than-optimal electrical connection for the squibs. The official fix is to cut out the old connectors and install a repair kit from the dealer.

Had the same problem with my 2009 SL600, turns out to be an EIS, electronic ignition switch. Have no idea why that would cause the SRS light to illuminate, but it wasn't the EIS, it was a bad key, dealer made a new key and problem hasn't came back.

This is what the issue is, according to the Merc tech I use. Didn't go for that at first as these were both replaced about 5-6 years ago with the repair kit. Done this on my wife's Merc too, many years ago, still good. As my luck might have it, could be a failure on the plug again. This time, will do it myself by eliminating the plug & just solder the wires together. If I do need to remove the seat in future, will just do the process again.
To my knowledge, 2002 YOM, 2003 MY

Look under the seat for a yellow plug connection. Undo the connection and spray some electrical contact cleaner into the plug and then reconnect. Then clear the fault again and see if it reoccurs?
