Rattling speaker
On a 2009 SL550, the speaker on the passenger door rattles when there is music with bass. Completely lowering bass in the settings diminishes the problem but doesn't remove it. It is making listening to music impossible as the rattling is pretty much constant.
Before I take the whole door off, does anyone have any idea what it could be due to?
I read on one post that the speaker had come loose from it's housing and they used a glue to put it back together.
The bigger problem once I take the door off is that I also have no idea how I'll be able to tell what is wrong with the speaker. Any advise on how to diagnose what is happening?
Thanks

2005 R 230 SL350 (M112 3.7). Sold the 1966 W113 230SL recently
You’ll easily find how to take the door panel off (5 minute job) on this forum. The speaker housing is thoroughly fixed to the door frame by 5 or so screws. If it ain’t loose then you’d have to take the unit from the door and see what’s mechanically wrong.
I hope for you it’s not the sub woofer giving you trouble. Above the passenger’s feet, a pain to get to.
Edit: and you might want to check the speaker grill in the door panel for rattles.

If a speaker frame is loosely secured, then it will rattle, naturally. But otherwise it will not.
In your case maybe the best you can do is to take the door panel off and pull and tug on various things and see what you find is loose.
