SL/R230: PSA: SL65 in Wichita and SL55 in Tulsa
The SL65 has epic power and I love the V12 but in a short drive I got a TPMS Fault and an ABC Visit Workshop warning. It generally ran well but is sunbaked on the outside, has oxidized and curbed wheels, and a few misc scratches. The interior is full of scratches and has heavy leather wear and is just overall dirty. Not a nice car and a ticking maintenance bomb. No maintenance history.
The SL55 was better but still crap. Even more sunbaked and moderate oxidation on the paint and trim. Supercharger rattle from the engine but still ran well with decent power. Bizarre ABC behavior, no noted faults but the front of the car felt totally detached from the rear, like the rear was a second behind in reacting. Even just a slight side to side weave was enough to set it off, very disconcerting. Again heavy leather wear inside and a lot of scratches and wear inside. Also the tires are 8 years old. On the upside there is 5 years of maintenance history from the PO.
Hope that helps anyone who may be looking at these cars. Both looked good in photos and were described as nice but crap in person. Which is why I don’t buy sight unseen.....
