SL/R230: Spark plugs change for novice
I recently got a 2009 SL550 and for the first time ever, I really want to take care of my car. With advise from this forum, I recently changed the roof hydraulic pump myself (Tophydraulics fixed the burned motor), I just did a power steering flush and next intend to do a break fluid flush, a cooling system flush, ABC flush and change the fan belt, none of which I have never done before.
The advice I wanted from you all is how easy and how 'dangerous' is it for a total novice to change the spark plugs? I have seen multiple videos and have read about it and think I get the theoretical aspects of it. But what are the consequences of making a mistake? Should I get more experience before I attempt the spark plugs change?
Thanks
make sure to torque the plugs to spec and be careful with over tightening any of the bolts for the gaskets as well.
not that difficult of a job just time consuming if they are old and original.
