Trunk Release not workking

The trunk trunk lid will not open. I have tried the trunk handle, release button on the door, key fob, and the auxiliary key inserted under the trunk lid. There is no resistance on the trunk handle when i pull it. The roof is down. Im guessing its the release assembly. Anything i should try before bringing it in??

Ooh that is a bad place to be with the roof down, have you tried pulling the fuse behind the seat? 20A one.

Have you made sure you've inserted the manual key into the lock, and held it turned, at the same time as pressing the release button?

i was hoping it might be a fuse but wouldn't it still open manually with the key even if the fuse was shot

Not unless you do what I said above, have you tried holding the key turned and pressing the release at the same time?

Just tried that and yes it works. But that is still the only way it works, not with fob or release on door or just pulled the handle. And when i open it with the key i can hear a hissing coming from the locking mechanism. I am assuming that i will cause severe damage to the car if i try raising the roof in this state. Thanks guys, any additional thoughts?

Find the source of the hissing...sounds like you have an air leak.

Read this?

I’d try pulling and replacing the fuse to get a pump reset. If you can get it to work just one time start the car and get the roof up. Then you can do the rest at your leisure?

There is no problem with closing the roof with the trunk closed, that is the normal state, you cannot close the roof with the trunk open or unlatched.
Why do you think you will cause damage?
You will not be able to OPEN the roof with a non-functional PSE locking pump.
