Newbie here. I have just purchased a 2004 Sl500 Sports Package with 60000 miles. There is scoring on the rotors and I want to start off new with the brakes. My fronts are ventilated while my rears are not. Yet I see part listings for ventilated rear rotors. I assume you need different calipers to use these or there is some other reason. I am fine replacing the existing rotors but am curious why this is. thank you

Hi Gene, welcome !
If you need to find the right parts, no mistake, you must post your vin or send me a pm
Thank you for your response. I have found the parts to replace what I have now but was asking why they also list ventilated rear rotors for the rear. With the thickness of a ventilated rotor I am sure you would need a different caliper. Thanks again

Hi
these:
A2214231212
these are 22 mm thick
300mm large
now your orignal disc are A2304230412 A2304230712
10mm
not vented
there is 12 mm difference
no problem to mount them with your calipers
Peter can you explain how you do the translation of the Vin to Fin thanks
USA uses VIN
in europe it is FIN
It is auto-translated in EPC (mercedes parts software part of EWA)
but for those that doesn't have one of my installations you can view your partial data card here and see VIN and FIN here
