Newbie here. I have just purchased a 2004 Sl500 Sports Package with 60000 miles. There is scoring on the rotors and I want to start off new with the brakes. My fronts are ventilated while my rears are not. Yet I see part listings for ventilated rear rotors. I assume you need different calipers to use these or there is some other reason. I am fine replacing the existing rotors but am curious why this is. thank you

From the best I can tell Mercedes only lists the following part number for the rear rotor of any 2004 SL500. It appears this is a solid rotor.

Thank you for your response. I have found the parts to replace what I have now but was asking why they also list ventilated rear rotors for the rear. With the thickness of a ventilated rotor I am sure you would need a different caliper. Thanks again

One thing I want to mention for those who want to buy aftermarket brakes

or you have a seller on the phone who confirms you the right fitting ( then if not ok it's their financial problem for returns)

or you know the original measurement and you can clearly read those of the aftermarket part on the website

or you read clearly that the car body number is correct ( then if not ok it's their financial problem for returns. don't forget to take a screenshot)

in this case body is 230475 when you translate the VIN to FIN you can see the body appear


I say all this because all these rotors are very heavy to transport and return
and by experience, many just show model and year and don't even fit

USA uses VIN
in europe it is FIN

It is auto-translated in EPC (mercedes parts software part of EWA)
