Central Locking & PSE 2009 SL550

Well, I think I've exhausted all the troubleshooting I can do on my own. Last ditch effort here before I'm off to the dealer.

Central locking went wonky on a low consumer battery situation a few weeks ago. I had taken a quick drive, could tell the consumer battery was low, typical weird stuff, top would't go down. Got to my first stop and and the console lid was stuck/locked? Then the trunk wouldn't open, etc. Used the manual key, took a long drive, charged the battery over night, finally replaced the consumer battery. Still nothing, NOTHING on central locking works.

NO blown fuses (checked every fuse in the car, in all locations)
PSE impeller is fine
PSE pump fires if I apply 12v to the motor terminals.
PSE pump makes NO sound, nothing when installed back in the car.
Disconnected BOTH batteries, hoping to reset everything.

I feel like the pump is just not getting a signal from whatever control unit. OR the board on the PSE pump is bad?

Any help or guidance is GREATLY appreciated!

In an '80s or older vehicle control functions are implemented with hardware components. With a schematic you could take voltage measurements around different points of a circuit to identify a faulty component. But with a modern car like the R230 quite a lot of control is implemented in software. To troubleshoot you need a window into what is happening within the software, and that is where a $250 Star Diagnosis System or its equivalent is indispensible.

You said the console lid was and stays locked. Were you able to check the fuses under the storage bin behind the right seat? The lid on there has central locking too.

Hooked it up to the big Autel unit today. The PSE is "not responding". So sounds like the board is bad on the PSE unit. I'm guessing I need to just buy a new PSE unit?

There are other reasons for no communication than a bad module. You need to at least check power supply to the PSE, a simple test. There could also be issues with the communication (Can Bus) which could be more difficult to diagnose.

I just recently replaced the PSE pump and the trunk lock latch vacuum actuator. I found that even after you get replacement parts for these cars, you still have to ensure you have a good and clean connection inside the wiring harness. I almost spent a ton of cash replacing a perfectly good PSE pump, all because of a $3 connector in the wiring harness was corroded.
