SL/R230: 2003 Manumatic shifts down but not up

2003 Manumatic shifts down but not up
Just purchased a 2003 R230 that shifts fine in Drive mode. If I tap shifter to left it downshifts one gear per tap. Tapping to the right does nothing. Thoughts?

I have some. I’ve read up some about replacing the shifter. Definitely not a simple task but maybe I can clean some of the contacts while it’s in place.
