I think reading that diagnostic code is a logical starting point. Typically auto part stores will read OBD-II "check engine" codes for free. Then I'd be looking at short and long term fuel trims with an advanced OBD-II code reader or Star Diagnosis clone.

Read codes.
white smoke that smells like gas is unburned gas. Fuel delivery and injection system must be working. Ignition and combustion system isn’t working. Coils wires and plugs plus whatever drives them.
what about the evap system?

Please get a proper diagnosis using MBStar das. Whomever you call Mercedes should have provided a fault code list and diagnostic fix. Did you receive this? Perhaps you received a throw parts and labor fix until it stops. You own a very sophisticated mobile area network of sensors controlled by computers and software. Sl65 in your case even more sophistication. It takes sophisticated diagnostic work on these cars. In my case I do that before the wallet opens and repair order issued. Take it back to who ever did the work and ask to get a thorough free diagnostic and report fault codes and what ever else would help the forum help you. Keep us posted.
