R230 SOS "Call Connecting" issue

I have a 2003 R230. I have a battery drain issue that I am sure is related to the SOS system that I attempted to deactivate. I removed related fuses, only to cause another issue after those fuses were returned!

Within a minute or two of new start, the SOS system tries to compete a call on a phone that does not exist. It has been an annoyance by itself, but the overriding issue is that it drains the rear battery very quickly and renders the entire electrical consumers system weak...

How can I deactivate this system properly?

Thank you for in advance for any assistance.

I do not own a a SL, but my guess would be to check the manual or call MB themselves!

I'm guessing you only needed to remove one fuse: Fuse 76 in the rear fuse box which supplied power to the TELEAID module. If that doesn't work, Mercedes' Star Diagnosis System (SDS) can deactivate TELEAID through a setting in the instrument cluster configuration. A well-equipped independent shop might do it for a fraction of their hourly rate. Better still would be to purchase an SDS of your own. A clone can be had for as little as $250, but it would likely take 2-3 weeks to be delivered to you.
