Realistic SL-500 asking price
Hello,
I'm thinking about selling my 2003 SL-500 as I'm now living in a cold climate and can't drive it in the winter,
The car is in good condition, and has 66,500 miles on it right now. I'm wondering what you all think is a realistic price I could sell the car for?

Assuming that it doesn't have a major issue (roof, ABC, powertrain), I would say 90% at that mileage would sell in the $9K-14K range. $9K might be a salvage title, with a small dent or two, cracked bumper cover, etc., high end would need to be very clean with clear title. Region does matter some and most cold states don't have a lot of SL's on the market. Options don't seem to matter that much, but value drops quickly with minor body issues, torn seats, salvage titles, and miles > 100K. Yours doesn't happen to be Mars Red?

Adding to points above, time of year selling a convertible in a colder climate affects selling price, too. Not much demand this time of year. If you have a place to store the car, you may do better in the spring when northerners are thingking spring/summer. the extra 6 months depreciation should not affect the price as much as supply demand improvement the spring can bring.
Check out www.Autotempest.com for values on your car. Can do local Craigslist ads, too. This will give you an idea of what tis on the market in your area.

You can check Bring-a-Trailer for actual sales values. I sold my ‘06 SL500 on there this past May and was very pleased.

I just sold a very nice 12,900 original mile 2003 SL500 in Alabama for $19,500. It did have a nice set of powder-coated Mandrus Reganmiester wheels on it but the rest of the car was stock except for the single-fin grill. I still have have the mint set of factory rims for sale which only had 4,000 miles on them if anyone is interested. I also have a nice set of Mercedes all-weather floor mats, the removable windscreen and a nice car cover if anyone is interested...just PM me
