I have tried to research the best way to lift the wood trim and replace the switch housing. Most of the videos are about removing the console. Do I have to do that in order to change the switch or is there an easier way?

You pop off both side covers of the console, remove 3 screws on each side (they are the ones that are a little smaller and up higher than the others), remove the front lip of the cup holders, pop up the trim piece and remove it.
