The cap for the drivers side window switch on my 2007 SL550 broke. The actual window switch is fine, but when you push down, the bottom part of the cap lifts up. Now I have to hold the switch down to fully lower the window. Short of replacing the whole switch assembly, does anyone have any suggestions?
I’ve found just the cap for other models for sale on eBay but haven’t had any luck finding ones for the R230.
I had the same issue and found some replacements on WISH.COM. I haven't had a chance to check their compatibility yet as my car is in Florida and im in Kansas City till later in the month. They look exactly like the ones on my 2003 SL500 so I think they will work. They were actually:

I ended up buying a new switch and installing it. The switch was something like $135. Be sure to have extra snap clips if you take the door apart. The ones across the bottom of the door always break, but are easy to replace.
Having owned a few dozen Benzos, these window switches in the R230 are clearly the most fragile Benz window switches ever seen in any Benzos! Mine came off in my hand in my SL600 the first week of ownership. Luckily, I can carefully slip it back in place with a gentle touch. If you try, you might be able to get yours to slip back together. Knowing how it is, when I open windows I use a light touch and support the bottom of the switch with my thumb and lift carefully with a finger. Anyone who gets in the car (And there's very few people deemed worthy), gets a quick lesson on how to operate the window switch. And told to ask permission first, anyhow! After which, I open or close ot for them. That said, there is a write-up either here or on the other forum, where a guy devised a hinge pin replacement/reinforcement job in micro-style.
When I was faced with this problem I did not find any cover that would work. Had to replace the whole switch. Taking the door apart was an adventure, but really not too tough if you follow the instructions.
