Yes, but the front of the car needs to be on ramps or jack stands and the rear wheels on the ground. This puts the car at an angle that will cause the fluid in the pan to move towards the rear of the transmission.

I removed the bushing when the car was level and got a trans fluid shower lol.

Only use an OEM Mercedes part from a reputable seller (dealer, FCP, etc). There are a lot of knockoffs out there that have problems.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREW THAT HOLDS IT ON OR YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR CONDUCTOR PLATE!

Finally not correct you need to lift up the front if not you get a oil shower

You get a shower only if the trans is hot and:or overfilled
this is why following WIS is so important

Hi Peter, I was following WIS and that’s how I ended up with significant fluid coming out of the hole when I removed the pilot bushing while the car was level and the fluid was cold. I believe the fluid level was correct, not overfilled.

as I said, I always had the front up but not intentionally
this is strange...

anyone willing to eventually take a trans oil shower can post the test here ?

btw

it doesn't take much time to clean up the inside like I did
fairly easy
maybe consider doing this once in the trans's life if it has more than 150.000 miles

I have changed one on an '03 722.6 and it did stream some fluid. As long as you have the replacement handy, you can swap with minimal loss. Mine was level on the lift. If I was doing it again, I would do the same thing. Easier to do on the lift than on ramps even if you lose a bit of fluid.

I am trying to have a duplicate key made, it keeps asking for my password. So is your response stating that I can't retrieve it through the Xentry and I need another piece of software?

right
best is to find a guy with vvdi or cgdi
he will bruteforce your EIZ and retrieve it for you

I don't think even going online with a MB account on Xentry does it
to me the special service sends the password to the dealer after he placed a order for you
so manual

I have all of the parts to start this process. I am going to replace the TCU first. Question, the instructions say to "Carry out control unit adaptations using Star Diagnosis and read out fault memory". It also says "Only when replacing the ETC (EGS) control unit (N15/3). Since that appears to apply to me, a little guidance with the adaptations piece would be appreciated. I am going to come over to your site as I feel it would be extremely beneficial to me increasing my abilities with this particular model. It is much more temperamental than my 140 or 129 model. Plus I need to address some nagging minor issues with this one.

So I haven't removed the old one yet. So to clarify your directions. When you say use takeover, that designates a prompt on the computer that will read everything in the old unit and it will then prompt me to install the new one?

So I am realizing that my biggest negative is learning how to properly use this Xentry System. I ended up on a screen which is asking me if I want the old data transferred to the new unit.To turn off the ignition, install new unit and turn on engine.

that is why getting a real rock solid and complete system with 7/7 real remote support is a good solution

Yeah, I was able to get through this process, however it still reading that the unit is defective so I need to erase the fault codes haven't figured that out yet. I will be coming to your other site tomorrow. My system seems to be what I need, I just need to be tutored on the use of it. With the membership to the other site I can engage in direct verbal conversations, correct?

I can help you by remote, I make exception for members and help them out as a contribution to this fine board, just get in touch by email. I do not charge when I help out like this. only few time I charge is when I also have to fix the junk Chinese software before I can use it. Members a free to tip.
Then with the BenzNinja lifetime membership package, you not only get verbal conversation, but also that as soon as you struggle with something, I take over, fix the problem and so you watch and learn.

Okay, as I said previously, this one is a lot more temperamental than my other models. However I love driving it. I am not going to proceed with the changing of the fluid or replacing the filter, electrical connector and gasket until I deal with this issue.

don't panic
I've brought back to life many faulty modules, MB and Workshop, none found the problem
I developed a new flash method
