SL/R230: Convenience features unavailable

Convenience features unavailable
2005 sl500. Message in dash saying convience features temporarily unavailable. Is there a reset or a fuse. Rear battery 2 years old, but always on trickle charger. Seats adjust, but steering column doesn’t.

I don't agree with having to have the battery on trickle charge, just get a genuine Mercedes battery from dealer which is what I did and I have never had any issues, even with leaving the car 3 weeks in the snow over lock down it starts up no issue with no dash errors.

If I remember, the rear batt is a AGM kind, deep cycle. You need a AGM capable trickle charger. If car left undriven for few days or week, depends on cold weather or not, battery condition, the error message will show up. Don't forget the rear battery is 24/7 stand by, especially with keyless go!
If I don't drive mine for a week or so, message will show up. Less than that, no message at all. In my case, if the message show up after start, I usually wait a bit, shut it off and restart then everything back to normal.
