just when I thought it was safe.....

Of course I made the mistake of thinking I had finished everything to get my '06 where I was happy with it the car showed me I will never be finished. As I closed the trunk I noticed the passenger "flap" see pic was raised above the rest of the roof cover, I looked left and the one on the driver's side was flat out gone. So, I find myself in need of guidance. Please see pics.
- how/why would they both fail at the same time after 16 years? They aren't in the slightest way connected/linked?
- it looks like the plastic semi-circles the metal rod snaps into are cracked-- looks like the clips are part of the entire cover deck?
- ideas where to get a new one for the driver's side that might have some age/match?

As always, thanks in advance to anyone spending a few minutes to help me/point me in the right direction. After gasoline and air in the tires I'm getting beyond my technical skills!

Basically there is a metal pin that protudes through and into the clips from your photo. If you still have the flaps, then put them back in place and look how they hinge, then ignore the metal rod and get yourself some tiny cable ties or fishing wire drill a small hole on the underside of the flap (3mm) front and back and secure.

just to contribute to the common good--> found this on eBay, guy has an adhesive solution that doesn't require the panel to come off. Can also make pieces if you (like me) have lost the flap. Prices seem very fair. I still think I want to try and remove the panels and re-glue them down as they're very lumpy/no longer glued, but haven't found any guidance on pulling those pieces.
