Hello one and all. I've been working on my 09 SL5550 now for almost a year, and I believe my rough running / misfiring/ CEL issues are the result of a faulty ECU. My scanner is constantly giving me either a P0600 or P0606 errors, and the research I've done on these codes suggest that the ECU got toasted via a short or bad ground. While working on the car, I discovered that the cable end to one of the coil packs was actually melted and was not fully seated, and I think that's what did the ECU in.
But anyway, I've removed the ignition switch and have purchased a used numbers matching ECU from a running donor, and I'm about to send all to a company that specializes in ECU programming to get everything mated to my car. So my question is, has anyone had their ECU programmed (or reprogrammed) and if so, what was your experience? Does anyone have a ECU programming company that they can recommend or avoid? Any information that anyone may have will be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance.
Marvin Diaz @MBENZTECH . Standup guy, I have no specific ECU programming experience with him, but I have taken my R231 SL63 to his shop and would do so again. (Search for his handle here and you’ll see that he does do a lot of programming type stuff.)
