SL/R230: PSE system question
PSE system question
Periodically the soft close feature doesn't work. I fix it by pulling out and reinserting the 20 amp fuse in the fuse box behind the passenger seat. Everything is then fine for weeks, I have read the posts about sealing the system using epoxy and changing the trunk latch but I don't want to proceed with those fixes until I better understand the system. It seems to me that when the ignition is on the PSE pump would supply any required air or vacuum. Obviously, a large leak or broken pump would cause the soft close feature not to work. My problem is mine works for weeks then stops working therefore I assume the system is not leaking. Anyone have any ideas of how or why this happens?

The PSE will detect leaks in the individual air circuits and then disable them if necessary to provide adequate air for the remaining ones. Your leak is probably small so it doesn't get shut down every time. Pulling the fuse resets the module. The failure rate on the trunk soft close is almost 100%, so you just need to start there.
Soft Close
Hi!
Do all R230s have soft closing?
My 2010, SL350, doesn't work or isn't working. I usually close the trunk lid and it doesn't lock, I have to close it tightly.
What may be the problem?
It has no buttons to close, just the one on the driver's door to unlock.
Thanks for your attention.

The R230 trunk latch has built in soft close. The plastic valve is poorly made and has nearly a 100% failure rate. See the sticky on how to do a DIY repair.
