2012 SL63 AMG 6.2 M156
Question Need headers for my R230 SL63 AMG

All the posts I read go back so far, and my car is getting a little older all the time - making performance stuff harder to find.
Who makes VERY-well fitting, long tube headers for my 2012 SL63 AMG, NA 6.2, M156 (it's not a 2012 bi-turbo)?
I'd like to retain as much of the stock components and sound as possible because just from MB AMG, it sounds bad-***.
I'm looking for more performance, not louder noise (although I know it will be somewhat louder - I just don't want it to be obnoxious).

Try posting in the r231 forum for your vehicles specific section.

2012 R230, not a 2012 R231

Hmm. Not sure how to make my post more clear than it was written. I'll try again; I have a 2012, SL63 AMG with a naturally aspirated 6.2L, M156. My car is a R230. My car is not a 2012, R231, SL63 AMG with a 5.5L "biturbo."
I was hoping to find a knowledgeable answer on a company who makes long tube headers for a 2012, R230, that has a M156, as my R230 (the one in my profile avatar) does.
I thought that posting in the R230 forum had the potential to produce results regarding the R230 that I own.

I've thought about headers for some time, but strictly as an option only if my factory catalytic converters ever failed.

Factory replacements are ~$3,500...which is aligned to pricing for MBH headers:

RENNtech also makes a high-quality set, but at a ludicrous price point:

We make headers for the SL63 M156. We have a promo code, MBH10 that will save you 10%

What are the options for cats & resonators with these headers?

Not sure you will gain that much with just long tubes connected to the stock exhaust. The stock cats will have to go, at least the upstream ones, as they occupy the same space as the longtubes.

If it were me, I would remove the entire stock exhaust system and mothball it snd start from the longtubes back. Nothing like the sound of a complete tuned exhaust.
